54-year-old Lakpa Dorje from Sotang – 6, Solukhumbu has participated in more than 50 expeditions in his career starting as a cook and working his way up to become a professional mountain guide. He has summited Mt. Everest more than a dozen times including four times without supplementary oxygen. His other 8000 m + summits include Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu as well as Sisha Pangma. Today he lives with his family in Kathmandu.
