About the club (DDESC)

A Non-profit Social Club 

Dharma Danda is the name of a small hilltop approximately 3000 m high that towers above the Thulung Dudkoshi-9 and Sotang-4 Village Council of Solukhumbu District in eastern Nepal. The VDC is mostly inhabited by Sherpa, Rai, and Tamang ethnicities among others. Traditionally most villagers of the region are dependent on agriculture and livestock farming. Today however more and more people of the area are turning towards alternative professions of which the most attractive for them is mountaineering.  

This Dharma Danda Everest Summiters Club is an exclusive club whose members consist of Nepali mountaineers from Thulung Dudkoshi-9 and Sotang-4 Village Council, Solukhumbu District, Province -1, Nepal. Till date 55 individuals who have successfully summited the world’s highest mountain Mt. Everest are paid members of the club and have elected a ten-member Executive Committee to administer and accomplish the objectives of the organization.   

Objectives: 

This Dharma Danda Everest Summitters Club has been created with the following objectives: 

To work for the betterment of individuals and families of the region involved in mountaineering/trekking tourism as a profession by conducting activities such as emergency recuse assistance for injured individuals in the mountains, providing various means of relief to families of individuals involved in mountaineering/trekking tourism – such as providing education scholarships to their children, medical relief and health care assistance to sick and elderly,  

To assist in local development activities such as trail making and maintenance, posting signs and notices, arranging for environment-friendly energy use and waste management, environment conservation, and protection of natural wildlife 

To coordinate with national and international individuals, organizations, companies and governments to conduct research as well as cleaning campaigns in the mountains and bring all the possible waste back down and dispose of it in an environmentally safe manner

To conduct various training on mountaineering/trekking / outdoor adventure for national and international individuals

To provide assistance to domestic and international outdoor adventure seekers and mountaineering enthusiasts when needed to organize adventure sports activities and mountaineering expeditions
